Picture this...
Your partner is out of the house, the workday is done and you finally have an evening to yourself. Texting your aging immigrant parents isn’t an option — they just stress you out — you proudly, albeit with a touch of guilt, set a boundary to not check in until tomorrow.
You sit onto the couch and that’s when it hits you… you have no idea what YOU want to do during this time. You can’t remember: have you ever asked yourself what you want? Or has anyone else asked, for that matter. You feel some anxiety, overwhelm or confusion. You may even pick up your phone to search “self-care ideas” online.
You’ve gotten so used to putting others first and anticipating their needs that you’ve forgotten about you. You’ve known taking care of yourself is necessary but even that is too daunting because maybe you had no role model who showed you how or maybe you learned that in “doing good”, good will come back. Whatever the case, the truth is you’re finding yourself feeling burned out, depleted, and maybe even a bit resentful.
If you resonated with what I’ve shared and are thinking that I am the therapist for you, reach out and let’s have a 10-15 minute call and validate your instinct.

Here are some experiences from my clients.

Hi, I'm Cynthia.
I’m so glad you’re here. I am passionate about helping my clients learn what their sustainable and realistic “self-care” looks like. I do this by helping my clients understand why they may find themselves over-giving and burning out then helping them to create a sustainable, tailored-to-them menu of coping options to suit their various energy levels.
I’ve learned in both my experience as a clinician and human, that the goal in mental health recovery doesn’t mean ridding ourselves of our hard emotions or “to be the best at self-care” or “recover from mental health problems perfectly”; rather the true aim of mental health recovery is being in appreciation of all of our experiences that are both life drawing and life giving because both are part of our life and ultimately — what it means to live fully.
As a proud second-generation Fil-Am Queer clinician, I am committed to normalizing and destigmatizing mental health conversations. I received my graduate training at Columbia University School of Social Work and have worked with individuals and groups for over 15 years; sharing tools and resources through individual therapy sessions, consultation, and providing mental health resources.
I want you to have your version of living fully. Kw that you are not alone nor do you have to go through this alone.
Warmly,
Cynthia M. A. Siadat, LCSW
